I love the Lord as much as a broken person can; love and loved by my husband; blessed by 5 amazing little people who have helped me to learn much about me; grateful to serve even more as God gives them to me; blessed every day to be a home school teacher; college student; I hope to change the world by loving as many people as possible, because there is nothing greater than loving another.

We spent the Kers week reviewing and doing a little dictation. He's sounding out very well and will be in PR1, week 5 in about 2 weeks. He's doing great! He did a history narration and has participated fully in history and science, which are designed for his older brothers. He did art this week and his was my favorite of our charcoal rubs. He's adding well and worked through some patterns and ordinal numbers this week. He is recognizing number groups well and we'll working on place value a bit. We also did calendar work daily and he's learning his presidents song.

Middle School Girls:
SCIENCE: Started Apologia Anatomy with accompanying notebook and living books
DK’s Human Body book by Steve Parker This book has amazing pictures and comes with an interactive CD.
Body by Design by Alan Gillen Shows how God must have designed us (couldn’t happen by chance)
Exploring the History of Medicine by John Tiner

I got a great schedule from a yahoo group and they're off! We'll have a weekly discussion of their learning and daily meetings for accountability.

HISTORY: TOG 4 kicks in for us. We're in the early 1900s and reading
The Complete Idiot's Guide to 20th Century History
Bully for You Teddy Roosevelt
The Call of the Wild
The Gift of Music
Streams of Civilization 2
The Century for Young People
Little Britches
Both girls will outline their core reading and write a summary at the end of the week. They also have accountability questions (only a few) to answer from TOG. We're including a literary analysis study this semester, so we'll really work on that during discussion time and as vocabulary practice through Quizlet.

Diva moves through The Phonics Road level 4 this year and will graduate into Write Shop at some point (closer to next year). She worked on long dictation, word roots, and grammar through literature.

Lil' Mother had a light week, as we won't start WriteShop until next week and she gets a week off from math b/c her brother has the book they share (he's not home this week). She is moving forward in The Latin Road 2 and has surpassed her older brothers. She also completed her Latin work. Her schedule looks like this:

Finally, Rockin' Out Guitar Dude  is similar to his brother, with some differences. He's helping his dad recover from knee surgery and house sit this week, so he took his work with him. After a rough semester at home, our plan is to get him to a local college in the spring of 2012. This is our last semester to finish up what he needs with me, then for the most part (TOG, bible and Latin are really the only exceptions), he'll be at St. Petersburg College. His day is planned like this:

You see evidence of our 3-year cycle in the boys choices. I think of their work in either semesters or extended classes for desired depth.  We have a few "pieces to pick up" initially, but then will be pretty free next semester (WHEW!) The spring will be a little lighter :)
The books they read this week for history were:
Parts of the US Constitution
A Variety of Realism shorts as prescribed in TOG

So, yeah, that's what it's like to home school 7 kiddos. Lots of planning, lots of teaching, lots of follow up. Lots of blessing in my heaven paycheck! That will be an amazing payday!

Congratulations on keeping all your ducks in a row! Whew! My girls absolutely love anything Edith Nesbit!

Michele, we were not going to read the Nesbit selection for school b/c of all the other work, but I decided if we take the month and I assign it to them as AR, they will love the story. I couldn't resist. It also opens the door for us to focus on book reports, our annual goal.
